Matrix Poems

Eleven Matrix Poems

Poetry to be read in several directions

Matrix poems are written to be read in all of the directions indicated by their accompanying diagrams. You can examine an example of a MATRIX POEM here.

As letters and syllables must sometimes designate both meanings and sounds in 3 directions, one must decide whether to read them semantically or phonetically. For example, in one of these poems one finds the combination "L - On" along a diagonal. This is the word "lawn".

For the same reasons, punctuation as well must frequently be supplied by the reader.

In the poem "Pensive Flautist", the word "Qinar" refers to a flute from the Peruvian Andes.
